University of Papua New Guinea
Academic background: I am a graduate of the University of Papua New Guinea, specialising in physics. I also hold a certificate in cybersecurity from Diplofoundation in collaboration with the University of Malta and a certificate in adult education from UPNG.
Please explain why you are interested to participate at the Euro-SSIG:
Having had an interest in Internet Governance over the last few years, I would like to build capacity within the field as it is an important issue particularly for those in small island states like my country Papua New Guinea. As we are becoming more connected, it is important that the internet remains a fair and open playing field for all stakeholders. I am a recent participant in the Internet Society’s IGF ambassadorship program at IGF 2015 in Joao Pessoa, Brazil and have recently been elected in elected as a board member to the Pacific Island Chapter of the Internet Society (PICISOC). As this is a relatively new field in my region and I see the importance of it, I would like to build my own capacity within the field in order to serve better the people of the Pacific in this respect. I would therefore like to participate Euro-SSIG 2016 and would kindly request a fellowship to the Summer School as I believe this is an excellent program for Internet Governance capacity building.
