Louise Marie Hurel

Academic background: Louise Marie Hurel is a cybersecurity and Internet governance researcher working on interdisciplinary approaches to (in)security. She is currently pursuing her Master’s in Media and Communications (Data and Society) at the London School of Economics and conducting research on IoT security standards. She holds a BA in International Relations from PUC-Rio. Louise Marie is currently coordinating the project “Cybersecurity and Digital Liberties” at Igarapé Institute. Her previous experience includes consultancy for UNESCO and research on IG and privacy at the Center for Technology and Society at Getúlio Vargas Foundation (CTS-FGV). Since 2017 Louise Marie serves as European representative at NCUC’s Executive Committee at ICANN. Her recent publications explore topics such as: the role of private companies as cyber norms entrepreneurs, development of NRIs in Latin America, and cybersecurity governance in Brazil.
