My legal training provided a foundation in regulatory frameworks, but my interest in the digital frontier led me to St. Petersburg State University. I am currently completing my Master’s in International Relations, where my research focuses specifically on Internet Governance. My thesis explores the intersection of state sovereignty and global digital cooperation, and I am eager to bridge my legal expertise with the technical and diplomatic nuances taught at EuroSSIG to better serve Africa.

EUROSSIG Report

I generally had a wonderful experience at the 2026 EUROSSIG but what stood out for me and completely met my expectations was the presence of Internet Governance practitioners amongst the faculty members. This allowed me and other fellows to intimately engage with such experienced and accomplished individuals from organisations like ICANN, dotBerlin, PIR, DENIC eG, RIPE, etc. All faculty members were always interested in answering even the most naive questions that we had and I truly appreciated that.

Notably, on day one, I enjoyed the panel discussions especially when Hartmut Glaser discussed the multistakeholder model that is working in Brazil. I remember this specific discussion because I was immediately inspired to work on a similar model for my home country, Uganda.
The assigned groups for our practicums also allowed us as fellows to interact with people from diverse backgrounds and get to know each other in a professional way that the informal chats over coffee could not provide.

Most importantly, the fact that we got to meet and talk to people who are working and shaping policies of the internet really inspired us to believe that we can also have great careers in Internet Governance.

For me, Meissen will forever be a great memory and I hope that it was only the beginning of my great career in Internet Governance.

Lastly, I am extremely grateful to PIR (Public Interest Registry) for supporting my fellowship at this year’s summer school. The entire experience was invaluable!

St. Petersburg State University, Russian Federation I hold a Bachelor of Laws from Makerere University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre in Kampala.
