The Federal Office of Administration
Academic background: I graduated Electrical Engineering (Diplom Ingenieur) at the University of Applied Sciences in Cologne. After that I first worked for an German ISP in the WAN area for some years, then I specialized more in LAN technics (administration and troubleshooting large business customer?s networks) and later in network monitoring as a technical consultant for private enterprises before I joined the Federal Office of Administration (Bundesverwaltungsamt) at 2007. Since 2015 I do work for the LIR (Local Internet Registry) de.government and our job is among others to assist the public administration in Germany in migrating from IPv4 to its successor IPv6.
Please explain why you are interested to participate at the Euro-SSIG:
For my job at the LIR de.government it is essential to be able to understand and to participate discussions of communities like ripe, ietf. For this reason it is important to me to get to learn a lot more about internet governance to be able to represent the specific interests of our area of responsibility internal and external (e.g. ripe). That means I would like to improve my knowledge about all the organizations and parties ensuring the administrative and technical coordination necessary to enable the operation of the Internet plus their relationships and co-operation. In addition it was strongly recommended by a colleague to me to attend the Summer School for professional improvement in internet governance and because of the good experiences he made there. Last but not least I look forward to meet and get to know people who are also interested in internet governance.
