Poshta Bahadur, KC

Pro Public, Nepal

I am a development professional with a media background. Currently I am working as Team Leader at Pro Public, a non-governmental organization, in Kathmandu, managing a project funded by UN Women. I have a long experience of working with media advocacy and campaigns in Nepal. With master’s degree and MPhil in Economics from Tribhuvan University of Nepal, I have worked with different media outlets such as print and online portals for years and have extensively written on cyber security, online media challenges, digital governance, online privacy and emerging security threats to online information and data, among others.

Fellow Report:

My involvement in the 19th European Summer School on Internet Governance (EuroSSIG 2025) proved to be significantly important and enlightening for me, as I gained extensive knowledge about emerging issues and challenges in global internet governance, as well as identifying major stakeholders and responsible individuals who will govern the internet in future generations. Following a week of summer school in Meissen, I realized that internet governance poses significant challenges for both developed and less developed countries; it can negatively impact not just nations but also organizations, governments, and individuals, regardless of their wealth or poverty.

Presentation and Facilitation:
Throughout this time, numerous presentations on various aspects of internet governance (policy day, technical day, and suggestions and feedback) were shared and openly discussed during the Q&A sessions and breaks, which were widely appreciated. The facilitators and faculty members played a straightforward and cooperative role in every session, and there was no noticeable hierarchy during this period, which highlights the positive attributes of the faculty members.

Logistics, dining, and lodging:
The food and lodging were excellent, and I have no complaints; all meals including breakfast, coffee, lunch, and dinner were effectively managed and appreciated.

Management of EuroSSIG 2025:
The overall management was exceptional, with special thanks to Sandra Hoferichter, Chair of Medienstadt Leipzig e.V., and Wolfgang Kleinwächter, Professor Emeritus, along with their entire team who tirelessly worked at all hours to ensure EuroSSIG 2025’s success, which is greatly commendable.

In conclusion:
EuroSSIG 2025 is significant and essential for addressing and sharing emerging topics in internet governance and its global relevance and being practiced through a single platform (EuroSSIG 2025). I believe the internet is a global, borderless matter that should be regulated by a universally recognized organization or a multistakeholder entity. The reliance on the internet is growing daily, and no one can live and function without it. Cybercrime is also increasing rapidly and needs to be controlled in the future.
