Fellow Report:
Summer school was a very nice and fulfilling experience for me. It wasn’t merely a classroom setting but a very dynamic hub where all like-minded and individuals with intellectual curiosity converged with practical application. The lectures and information shared by reputable speakers, industry veterans, and policy architects are very amazing, and they shared their wisdom in transforming the complex concept of internet governance into more understandable information.
This summer school also embraced interactive learning through various case studies, group discussions and hands-on exercises. This approach helped me to create a deeper understanding of the intricate challenges facing the internet, especially in the European setup, and encouraged me to use critical thinking and problem-solving skills. The variety and diversity of the fellows further enriched the learning environment with numerous perspectives. As an Asian delegate, this diversity has made me better understand the situation in the other parts of the world and how they create better strategies in solving these major issues and concerns in their respective locations.
The program also focused on the ideals of internet governance, which equipped me with the tools to navigate its complexities. From comprehending the technicalities of the IG field to grasping the broader socio-economic implications of cybersecurity, data privacy and such, the curriculum was meticulously designed to provide a holistic view. The emphasis on various real-world challenges (as shared by our co-fellows) ensured that the issues are real and thus, the knowledge we gained were a combination of professional and personal spheres’ point of view.
Lastly, the bonds that we fellows have forged during the summer school was totally awesome and beneficial for me. The camaraderie and shared passion for the internet has created a lasting impact. I should also point out that upon leaving the program, I not only gained a deeper understanding of internet governance but also received a renewed sense of purpose and a network of like-minded individuals. It was a blast and an avenue for continued learning. This experience made a lasting memory for me that ignited a spark that will allow me to further empower other participants to become active contributors to the future of the internet.
