Christian Müller

DENIC Board

Christian Müller has been in the domain business since 1994. Currently only active as a member of the Supervisory Board of DENIC (the world’s largest ccTLD registry), his previous positions included various managing directors and board positions at well-known companies in the domain industry. Until 2023, he was Managing Director of Cronon AG (IANA 141), which is one of the largest domain registrants in Europe as a pre-service provider for STRATO AG, among others, with several million domains under management. Prior to this, he was CTO/CIO of STRATO AG for 14 years and, as CTO of Strato RZG, was also responsible for STRATO’s data center operations. In addition – as the domain registration of Strato and various major business customers of Cronon GmbH fall within his remit – he was also a voting member of ICANN’s RrSG, a member of DENIC’s technical advisory board and a member of the EUrid requirements panel. With the introduction of the GDPR, he played a key role in shaping how the German domain industry deals with the GDPR and also had to do a lot of persuasion work with registries in this matter.
Previously, he was involved in setting up an ISP at the system integrator H/S/D/ CONSULT (a predecessor company of the GRAVIS retail chain), was interim manager at Publicis Pixelpark for their internet project “Wildpark”, founder of an Internet start-up (Oil on Mars), and lecturer at the GNB (Gesellschaft für neue Berufe of the Berlin Senat). His first contact with computers in general dates back to 1986, when he programmed anti-virus tools and games.
