Asociación Lationamericana de Internet (ALAI)
Academic background: I am lawyer, graduated with honors from the University of Buenos Aires, focused on Law of Economics and Internet Governance. I am also a former researcher for this university, regarding topics related to the tensions generated between the application of Information Technology and Communications and nd the rights to protection of personal data, privacy and image. I was an ICANN honorary fellow at ICANN53 – Buenos Aires, a fellow for LACNIC at the LACIGF8 and the e-LAC/CEPAL meeting, a fellow of the Internet Society (ISOC) and the Brazilian Internet Steering Committee (CGI.Br) at the IGF2015 and fellow for the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) in Düsseldorf.
Please explain why you are interested to participate at the Euro-SSIG:
I am interested in participating on this program because for many reasons. Firstly, I believe it is very important to find a balance between my on the field education and my theoretical formation. Even though I participated in several Internet Governance events, I do believe I must also focus on forming a solid academic background as to make the most of every opportunity. Secondly, I have recently started to work in the Asociación Latinoamericana de Internet (ALAI – http://www.alai.lat/en/- ), which is an association who pursues to be the voice its associates – such as Google, Facebook and Yahoo-, in order to promote and defend public policy solutions addressing the industry point of view. In this sense, going to the Euro SSIG could help me have a much more comprehensive understanding of the industry and the policy behind it, leading me to better results. Finally, I do have the intention of being more and more involved with Internet Governance and there is no doubt about that exchanging views and opinions with top level faculties and other fellows will definitely enrich my knowledge and help me get more involved.
