Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN)
Academic background: I received a Master of Science in Communications Practice at Columbia University in the City of New York. I also hold a Bachelor of Arts in Global and Transnational History at Vanderbilt University, which included programs of study in Japan and Denmark.
Please explain why you are interested to participate at the Euro-SSIG:
Since I joined ICANN in 2014, I have been working side by side with At-Large Community volunteers, providing substantive and logistical support to their policy activities that impact the interests of Internet end users worldwide. As my responsibilities increase in ICANN, I seek opportunities to deepen my understanding of the technical operation and the governance of the Internet, with the goal to develop subject-matter expertise and offer better service to our community. Renowned for its well-established program and stellar faculty members, Euro-SSIG will help me build a solid knowledge foundation of the history and theory of Internet Governance, as well as gain insights into its evolving political, economic, and social-cultural landscape. Furthermore, as 2016 celebrates the tenth anniversary of the Summer School, I will also have a unique opportunity to learn from and build relationship with fellow students, faculty, and returning alumni, with many of them active in diverse parts of the ICANN community and the wider IG world. The strong recommendations from my ICANN colleagues, who attended the program, have reinforced my conviction that Euro-SSIG will accelerate my professional growth. I am eager to learn and contribute my experience, skills, and perspectives inside and outside the classroom.
